Commissioned by the housing corporation Eigen Haard, I am currently working on a new photo series about the IJplein in Amsterdam-North. The buildings are undergoing a major renovation and is now in its final phase.

The distinctive housing blocks surrounding IJplein were built between 1980 and 1987 on the former site of the Amsterdam Drydock Company. Early municipal plans for monotonous apartment buildings met with strong resistance. With the involvement of architect Rem Koolhaas, and in close consultation with future residents, a radically different design was developed—one that emphasized views over the IJ for every one, as well as greenery and public space.

For this documentary project, I portray both the residents and the square itself.
